Anadoluhisarı, Istanbul’s oldest surviving fortress, is a striking landmark on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus. The fortress, originally known as Güzelce Hisar, consists of a rectangular inner tower surrounded by walls. Though relatively small compared to its counterpart, Rumelihisarı, which was built later on the European side, Anadoluhisarı was instrumental in forming the “throat-locking” strategy (Boğazkesen) to control the Bosphorus.

Anadoluhisarı, İstanbul Boğazı’nın Anadolu yakasında yer alan ve şehrin en eski surlarından biri olan büyüleyici bir yapıdır. 1395 yılında Osmanlı Padişahı Yıldırım Bayezid tarafından inşa edilen bu küçük ama etkileyici hisar, Osmanlı’nın Konstantinopolis’i fethetme sürecinde hayati bir rol oynamış ve imparatorluğun askerî strateji ve mimari dehasının bir simgesi olmuştur.

Daha sonra Avrupa yakasında inşa edilen Rumelihisarı ile karşılaştırıldığında küçük bir yapı olsa da, Anadoluhisarı, Boğazkesen (Boğaz’ı kilitleyen) stratejisinin bir parçası olarak önemli bir görev üstlenmiştir.
Bugün Anadoluhisarı, tarihî önemi ve büyüleyici çevresiyle dikkat çeker. Geleneksel Osmanlı evleri, dar sokaklar ve Göksu Deresi ile çevrili olan hisar, ziyaretçilerine geçmişe dair bir pencere sunar. İç kısmı ziyarete açık olmasa da, dış mekanını keşfedebilir ve bölgenin sunduğu manzaraların keyfini çıkarabilirsiniz.
