Tophane-i Amire is a historic building complex located in Istanbul, Turkey. The complex was built in the 15th century and served as a state-run factory for the production of firearms and artillery, known as a “tophane”, during the Ottoman Empire. The complex includes several buildings such as workshops, warehouses, and administrative buildings. The complex is also known for its architectural and decorative elements, including its ornate tile work, calligraphy and its courtyard which is surrounded by a gallery of arches. Today, Tophane-i Amire is a cultural center and an art gallery, hosting exhibitions and cultural events.
