Located in the historic Sultanahmet district of Istanbul, the Great Palace Mosaics Museum is an archaeological treasure that houses some of the most significant Byzantine mosaics in the world. İstanbul’un tarihi Sultanahmet bölgesinde yer alan Büyük Saray Mozaikleri Müzesi, dünyanın en önemli Bizans mozaiklerine ev sahipliği yapan arkeolojik bir hazinedir. Bu mozaikler başlangıçta, 4. yüzyıldan 11. yüzyıla kadar 800 yıldan fazla süreyle Bizans imparatorlarının ana ikametgahı olan Konstantinopolis’in Büyük Sarayı’nın bir parçasıydı.

Müze, Arasta Çarşısı’nın altında yer almakta olup, mozaikler 1930’lar ve 1950’lerde arkeolojik kazılar sırasında yeniden keşfedildikten sonra korumak ve sergilemek amacıyla kurulmuştur. Mozaikler, sanatsal detayları ve Bizans kraliyeti ve soylularının günlük yaşamı ve kültürüne dair sundukları içgörüler açısından dikkat çekicidir. Yaklaşık 250 metrekarelik bir alanı kaplayan mozaikler, av sahneleri, oyun oynayan çocuklar, mitolojik yaratıklar ve günlük aktiviteler gibi çeşitli sahneleri olağanüstü bir hassasiyet ve renk ile tasvir etmektedir.
